ROUND THE CLOCK NATURAL BEAUTY

We are all trying to do our bit, reduce our plastic consumption, use less chemicals, eat a few more veg etc. However, the world of natural and sustainable beauty products is an, often expensive, minefield. So here’s a breakdown of my routine and a few great products for every occasion.

WORK

I work a full time office job, and I love my sleep. So I have a quick round up of natural beauty for the morning that leaves me feeling put together. I cleanse my face with a Natural scrub and add an organic CC cream with SPF in. I love Sukin products as they’re carbon neutral, have natural ingredients and are really effective. Makeup for me is usually done super quickly and I love the RMS Beauty products for this. They’re natural and the packaging is mostly glass so easily recyclable. I do my brows with the 100% Pure brow pomade which is an amazing natural dupe for other popular products. I love Liz Earle mascara and this brand focuses on natural ingredients and is working towards more sustainable sourcing! Finally the Lily Lolo powders are great to finish everything off, their natural products are really affordable and great quality.

REST

When I have a bit of spare time I love to have a bit of a pamper, and although I’m resting, I want my products to work hard. My favourite masks are the Lush fresh masks. There are lots of them so there is something for every skin type. Lush products are natural, lots are vegan and all their plastic packaging can be recycled in store (if you take in 5 empty pots they will give you a free fresh face mask!) I then use a natural rose water toner; simple, hydrating and comes in a glass bottle. Finally the Organic Apothecary Green Balm is great for cleansing, dry skin and lips and just about everything else. For my body I use Nuddy vegan soap bars - why use plastic shower gel bottles? And then make a body scrub with salt, sugar and oils. It’s great and all made from the kitchen cupboards- recipe below. Finally for a bit of luxury I use the Aromatherapy Associates Revive Body Oil; I love its pure and natural ingredients.

PLAY

I love to try new things and play with products but that doesn’t mean I want to compromise on my values. So I have a few pieces for parties, holidays and festivals. The first and most important is eco glitter: plastic free, biodegradable and applied with a gel so it’s easy to remove. I love ecostardust for this as their mixes are gorgeous. Another nod to RMS cream products here as they are so buildable and pigmented- gorgeous metallic eye bases and crazy glowy highlighters. Hair wise I like using shampoo and conditioner bars as they’re great for travelling, and for in between days Lush No Drought powder dry shampoo is wonderful- I apply with a large fluffy old makeup brush.

Finally for the upcoming summer months we are going to need SPF! There are so many amazing sea-life friendly products but I love Jason Facial Sunscreen and Aloe Pura Aloe Vera Sun Lotion. They are both easily available in the UK and very reasonably priced. Now pop on a Stay Wild Swim swimsuit and you’re ready for an adventure!
