Karma - an app to rescue unsold food
Annually one third of all food produced globally goes to waste resulting in 1.3 billon tonnes of waste worldwide. The CO2 emitted from food waste is equivalent to 3 million cars on the road every year.
The app Karma was launched 2016 in a bid to save unsold and excess food from restaurants and retailers at a fraction of the price. As a result consumers eat great food for a discount and businesses receive additional income - whilst together reducing food waste. It's a win, win!
Karma is available in 225 cities in the UK, France & Sweden and has currently rescued over 1,200 tonnes of food and saved 1,800 tonnes of CO2 emission from our planet.
Not only can you support the reduction of food waste by a restaurant or retailer, Karma also offers a food box delivery service. Fresh produce that may be misshapen or nearing the end of its life (but still great to eat) will be sourced from sustainable farmers or wholesalers and delivered straight to your door.
