Every day approximately 8 million pieces of plastic pollution find their way into our oceans. A total of 12 million tonnes a year, equivalent to a truck load a minute. At Stay Wild we are committed to not only fighting this problem but contributing to the solution. Every single element of our production is as sustainable and ethical as possible. The small details matter to us, as we hope they matter to you.
Our ECONYL® is created from unwanted waste from around the world, such as fishing nets pulled from the ocean and fabric scraps left over from industry. Using a radical regeneration process the nylon is brought back to its original purity and can be used to produce new products. Our ECONYL® yarn is sourced from Italy, where it is evaluated as a high quality, durable and sustainable techno-fibre - perfect for performance swimwear. As well as being a solution on waste, ECONYL® regenerated nylon is also better when it comes to climate change. It reduces the global warming impact of nylon by up to 90% compared with the material from oil.
Derived from nature, our TENCEL™ fabric is crafted using a closed loop production process, which transforms wood pulp into cellulosic fibers with high resource efficiency and low environmental impact. TENCEL™ is a functional fabric that is cool to touch, has enhanced breathability and absorbs moisture more efficiently compared to other fabrics, meaning it has greater antibacterial properties.TENCEL™ has also been certified as biodegradable and compostable under industrial, home, soil and marine conditions, and therefore can fully revert back to nature.
Our Oeko-Tex®️ certified organic linen is a low impact, naturally biodegradable and recyclable material. It’s breathable and highly absorbent, making it perfect to be worn over your swimwear or on a warm Summer’s day. Every component of this material has been tested for harmful substances to certify that it is harmless for human health.
Our Be A Force of Nature tees are made using Oeko-Tex®️ Certified ECOVERO™ fibers are responsibly made in Turkey in an ethical co-operative. They are produced using wood pulp, which is derived from renewable resources. The manufacturing of the ECOVERO™ fibers generates up to 50% lower emissions and water impact compared to generic Viscose. It is produced using a closed cycle process, meaning that all water and chemicals used during production are recycled and used again, resulting in a 0% pollution impact. Our Stay Wild and Young Wild & Plastic Free tees are crafted from factory offcuts of recycled organic cotton and recycled plastic bottles which would have otherwise ended up in landfill to create an ultra-soft but durable tee.
Every detail matters to us, including the small ones. Which is why we use thread made from rPet, which is crafted from recycled plastic bottles. And our Lana shirt is fastened with biodegradable buttons made from sustainably sourced and renewable nuts. It’s important to us that every element is as sustainable as possible, even down to the hygiene liners, which are certified compostable and made using tree pulp.

We are advocates or conscious consumption and encourage our customers to buy less but buy better. Our swimwear is beautiful, high quality and made to last. Producing swimwear from regenerated ocean plastic means our pieces run the risk of releasing tiny micro-fibres into the water system when they are washed. To combat this issue we became one of the first UK stockists of the GuppyFriend bag. We encourage our customers to wash any synthetic fabrics in their GuppyFriend, capture the micro-plastics and dispose of them responsibly to stop them entering the water system.
We’re doing this for the planet, so this isn’t just about us. It is about a growing movement of businesses who use responsible practices. We want to celebrate those who are taking positive steps to lower their impact on the environment. Which is exactly why we have created the Forces of Nature directory; a hub of recommendations for the best eco-friendly brands from hotels through to homewares, and everything in between.
Alongside ECONYL®, we are working towards a circular production system. Our ultimate goal is to be able to take back your used and loved Stay Wild pieces and regenerate them into beautiful new designs. The technology is currently in development and we will let you know as soon as this vision becomes a reality.
